From the President 

I just want to take a moment and say THANK YOU to everyone that participated in the Annual South Area Business Association’s Career Day on November 12th at Birchwood Highlands. 

We had a total of nine businesses volunteer and 20 students from DC Everest High School partner together for a day of learning.  This amazing and fun day provides students an up close and personal view of a wide variety of jobs. 

Students are able to explore careers in business by spending part of their day with a mentor observing and learning day in and day out tasks needed to be in business. 

I truly honor the businesses that selflessly offer the time for students to shadow their morning.  It takes time to be involved but can be so rewarding.  You never know when the student that shadowed you could be working with you. 

I am also proud to see how DC Everest sets a great example of faculty that can broaden the thought process of what careers are available and provide assistance with a direction after high school by exposing them to local business opportunities. 

As valuable as the opinions of guidance counsellors may be, it is equally relevant for students to hear from people AT work through events such as career days and field trips. 

A special THANK YOU to our very own member and board member Kris Carne from Birchwood Highlands for arranging, coordinating, and hosting such a successful event.  Thank you as well to the following businesses that also participated: Wipfli, Intercity State Bank, Birchwood Highlands, Village of Kronenwetter, Kronenwetter Police, CoVantage Credit Union, Village of Rothschild, Jonnee Bauer Agency/American Family Insurance, SC Swiderski, and Greenheck. 

If your business is looking to get involved please feel free to email me.  We would be looking for Real Estate Agents, Armed Forces, Hospitals, Radio/Television Sales, Childcare, Engineers, Plumbers, Contractors, Electricians just to name a few for next year’s event.
